What is Adventure Travel?

Adventure travel can be classified as a tourism, involving exploration or travelling to far of, exotic and some times hostile places. Adventure travel tourism is becoming more and more popular, as tourists and adventure seakers look for new kinds of travel experiences. A definition from the U.S. based Adventure Travel Trade Association, reads as follows: adventure travel can be any tourism activity, inclusive of two of the following: "a physical activity, a cultural exchange or interaction and engagement with nature".

This can mean that extreme sports can be easily combined with adventure travel, for example, a classic rafting adventure would encompass the extreme sports activity of whitewater rafting with an adventure travel element.
