Kenya Kitesurf Adventure Essential Info
If you are looking for an adrenaline fuelled Africa gap year programme with a twist of tropical beaches, adrenaline sports and raw African wildlife, then the Kenya Kitesurfing experience is where it is at. With the perfect mix of warm water, soft white sandy beaches and endless on shore winds powered by the Indian ocean, our 6 week pro kite surf course held at Diani Beach on the southern tip of Kenya's coastline, just South of Mombasa will deliver the ultimate kite surfing gap year experience.
With your days spent perfecting your kite surf skills, and night enjoying the cool backpacker scene it is going to be one hell of an adventure, but that is not all we have in store for you. With some of the best game parks in Africa, we also include an epic Safari in Tsavo national park, one of Kenya´s finest game parks.
The Course The 6 week course is structured to develop your skills and give you an excellent grounding in kitesurfing. Becoming a good Kite surfer does not happen over night, but 6 weeks of training under the professional instruction of our partners western instructors, we have no doubt that you will master the basics and move on to some more advanced techniques.
Kitesurf Coaching
6 weeks of kitesurf coaching with Kenya's perfect conditions ensures that you leave us as fully competent kitesurfers, well equipped to continue on with their kitesurfing journey.
Rather than pass you over to another kite school we are proud to have developed our own Kitesurfing Course which will be run using the latest kitesurfing equipment and run by our UK based partners kitesurf coaches. The coaching throughout the trip will be very personal and is designed to improve your kite surfing skills as quickly as possible. Diani beach provides perfect conditions for learners in the calm and sheltered waters with consistent side and on shore winds.
The aim of the coaches is to spend as much time with our you surfers as possible to ensure that you are achieving your goals and spending quality time in the water. All our coaches are very approachable and willing to put time into making sure or riders are getting the most out of the course as possible.
Safari and Surfari... Kenya is one the best places to head out on Safari, so we figured it would be criminal to not include one in this trip. On this programme you will be going on a 2 night Safari in Kenya's Tsavo East Game Reserve. Tsavo-East is one of Kenya's oldest and largest National Parks: covering approx. 40 per cent of the total area of all Kenya's National Parks (about the size of Wales!). Its beautiful landscape and proximity to the coast make it a popular safari destination. Game at the Reserve includes - Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard, Crocodile, Waterbuck, Kudu, Gerenuk, Zebra as well as Hunter's Hartebeest which can be seen with its lyre-shaped horns.
Seeing how this is a Gap Year Kitesurfing adventure, we will be loading up the truck with our boards and hitting some of the best surf sports around Mombasa too! This is one of the nicest beach destinations in East Africa, with honeymooners enjoying the peace and tranquility of these paradise beaches. Until now...

Kenya Kitesurfing Adventure Itinerary
Week 1
The first week will be intensive kitesurf coaching. You will be taken through all the stages as per the IKO syllabus that will enable you to reach Level 3 by the end of your 7 days coaching.
This aims to establish your 'kite independence'. Handling yourself and your Kite in the water
Week 2 & 3
Now you are staying upwind it's time to train you to become more skillful with turns, gybes and transitions. By the end of the week 3 you should be making controlled jumps.
Week 4
Time to work on your weaknesses and define your style. It should now be clear what the sport means to you; waves, freeride, freestyle or maybe even ‘old school’. We will focus on the individual requirements and now push your training accordingly.
Week 5
Downwinders and kite safaris will be the flavour of week 5. We will embark on some trips that will take you down wind along the coastline making the most of the vast shallow expanses this part of East Africa can offer.
Week 6
The final week will be a time to push your riding in all different disciplines. Get out there and enjoy your new passion, ride until your hearts content!
