The Gap Year Diving | Qualifications | Shark Diving | Water sports programmes in Asia and Thailand
From Price: 2,559.00EUR / GBP2,139.00
Further your diving qualifications and become a diving instructor. Earn money and travel at the same time, swapping the office for the oceans of the world. The ultimate career change for a positive work life balance.
We hate Dive instructors. For good reason: dive instructors are always smiling. They get paid to live on tropical island. Unfair to call it work really. Dive Instructors spend their days in the sun or underwater, training divers and sharing the magical underwater environments they call the office. Their colleagues are Whale sharks, Mantas and tropical fish. Their clients wear bikinis and beach shorts and wetsuits and tip them for doing such a wonderful job.
The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor qualification enables these horrible people to work anywhere in the world with a diving centre, usually in idyllic resorts. They are able to constantly extend their gap year travel and see the world with out the specter of having to return to work or use a credit card to fund their trips. You too could be one of these horrible people, with the Xtreme Gap instructor course, we may end up hating you too. After your Divemaster diploma you will be able to lead groups through the oceans of the world, but when you are a dive instructor you can teach people to dive. Not only does this course expand on your professional level diving qualifications and knowledge but it also greatly increases your ability to earn a living in Diving. Especially the case in Australia where diving instructor level is almost a prerequisite to working in the industry.
Xtreme Gap are proud of the fact that our Koh Tao IDC prices are such good value when compared to some of our competitors, that with the savings you could buy a full set of scuba gear (ask us for discounts on equipment) ready to pick up in country). After a successful Dive instructor IDC you can then earn money which will pay back all of the course fees in no time and it is great way to earn money on your Thailand gap year.

Please note this programme does not include meals, we are often asked why and the answer is simple. You can eat out in Thailand for as little as €1. If we included all of your food, you would have to eat in the same place all the time. We feel that there is so much amazing food to discover in Thailand, that you should be able choose where to eat and when to eat. Going out for dinner is also a social event, you will discover that during the day everyone is training, and you meet in the evening for a nice Thai Curry somewhere. Our rep can tell you all about the nice places to eat.
New PADI OWSI Requirement:
Effective March 2009,All new PADI Dive Instructors will need to be current Emergency First Response Instructors or hold another current first aid and CPR instructor credential.
Currently first aid and CPR provider-level training is required for new instructors; however, this change raises the bar by requiring instructor-level CPR and first aid skills.
PADI Dive Instructors will not only have a higher level of preparedness to respond to emergencies, but will also be better equipped to offer all-inclusive PADI Rescue Diver and Divemaster courses.
Having the Emergency First Response Instructor credential gives PADI Instructors another marketable skill set, because first aid and CPR training is in demand outside the diving community and EFR courses are approved by many authoritative bodies internationally.
THE XTREME GAP KOH TAO DIVE INSTRUCTOR COURSE INCLUDES THE EFR INSTRUCTOR COURSE IN THE PROGRAM.
Prior to the IE, all candidates must:Complete the dive theory examsComplete the nonstop 800 meter/800 yard mask, fins and snorkel swim.
Show proof of at least 100 logged open water scuba dives
Certification: Be certified as a PADI DM ( or hold an equivalent certification )
Be at least 18 Yrs old.
Be certified as an entry level diver since at least 6 months , and have logged at least 60 dives.
Prior to certification as an OWSI you will have to show proof of 100 logged dives, and show proof of CPR training within the last 24 months, provide a medical signed by a licensed physician, stating you are fit for scuba diving.
