Great Barrier Reef Passion of Paradise day tour
Peter, UK
Yesterday, we enjoyed an amazing day of December diving with Passions of Paradise. The warm waters of the Coral Sea were crystal clear and so blue it nearly hurt your eyes, visibility was excellent and beneath the surface was a whole new world to explore.
Starting at the beginning though, we checked in at the Reef Fleet Terminal at 7.30am before boarding the 25m Passions of Paradise sailing catamaran where tea, coffee and muffins were being served. Heading out to sea at 8am the waters were flat and the sky a little overcast, following a stormy night in Cairns complete with thunder, lighting and torrential rain, the night before.
I loved snorkelling on the barrier reef!! Even more so because the Marine biologist on the boat gave us a nice briefing about what we could expect. Huge schools of bat fish and giant trevally were waiting for us as soon as we entered the water. Kicking away we explored the hard coral bombies, soft corals and fan corals. Personally I loved the Christmas Tree Worms: so delicate, bright and beautiful they looked as though they belonged in a store. They are purple, orange and yellow little ‘Christmas trees’ sticking out of coral, and if you come close they hide!
We also saw anemone fish (think Nemo), bright yellow with white and black butterfly fish, a stingray, upside down jellyfish (so small and cute!) long nose butterfly fish, giant clams (beautiful!), and we saw a turle right in front of us. And this all during 1.5 hours of snorekling. After a nice day on the reef including some nice snacks we sailed home relaxing on the deck. Paradise!!
Big tanks to the friendly crew and experienced staff. A great day out – enjoyed by all on board.
Customer Reviews of Xtreme Rafting Raging Thunder over Tully River

Best experience ever! We'll definitely try rafting again in the future .. best experience ever!

If you plan on going white water rafting in the Cairns area I would definitely recommend doing the Xtreme experience. Basically instead of going out in a group of about 15 boats (who all have to sit and wait for each other after each rapid as they only have one medic between them) you go out in a group of about three boats, ahead of everyone else on the river. This means that there is much less waiting around and you actually get to go further down the river, as well as doing other fun things like jumping from rocks and swimming down a grade three rapid. It was a great day and I would very happily do it again!.

Jungle Tour Cape Tribulation
Sheila, UK
Lovely trip with an informative guide. Highlights were the Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary, Cape Tribulation beach, the walk through the mangroves and the wild snakes and crocodiles on the river trip - all sights not seen at home! Biggest thrill was the wild cassowary in the mangroves apparently only 1500 left wild in the area and we saw one!

Amazing trip to the rainforest and wildlife sanctuary. Tour guides were great, informative and very friendly. A walk through the rainforest and Cape Tribulation was nice and relaxing, enjoyable scenes of nature. Hand feeding kangaroos and wallabies was extremely fun. The sanctuary gives the visitors a more intimate visit with wildlife.

Good Morning Guys !! Just a little review on my recent trip to Cape Tribulation with Xtreme gap. Me and my friendly Dutch friend Anna, who I met on route in Australia went on the trip last week . We were picked up from the hostel in Cairns in the early morning by our friendly tour guide Nic.
We arrived at The Daintree village, where we had an early breakfast before boarding the ferry for a crocodile cruise which was fantastic. Our tour guide was COOL, he knew everything you could possible know about rivers/crocodiles/snakes etc on the cruise. We saw loads of tree snakes chilling in the sun on the branches over the river. We also saw a little crocodile, no bigger than a banana, warming up on a log in the water. Down the river we saw more wildlife, including a cool water dragon lizard and a 4-5 meter crocodile!! which was kind of scary being so close to her ( Rusty her name was ). Though she was not bothered at our presence at all.
Not long after we retreated back to the bus and left for our Rainforest walk (Jindalba Botanical boardwalk) our tour guide briefed us and took us through the rainforest. Our tour guide was like Wikipedia; she knew everything about everything which was fantastic and overwhelming with interest; we saw beautiful flowers and trees along with wildlife including a Cassowary!!!
After the rainforest we drove into the heart of Cape Tribulation where we had a nice lunch in PK’S, which was a real relaxed atmosphere in the center of the rainforest and only a stones throw away from the secluded deserted beach with great views of the rainforests and mountain ranges.
On the way back from our lunch, we had an optional stop off at Daintree ice cream company which was a great treat after our filling lunch. We then kept on moving to arrive at Alexandra Range lookout which was an amazing experience; we saw where the river delta met the sea and we took loads of fantastic photos of the beautiful scenery.
Time was ticking so we made our way back to the Daintree ferry crossing and went to the Daintree Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary (as I called it a little zoo). Here we saw all sorts of wildlife including fresh water and salt water crocs, snakes, birds… We also got to pet kangaroos and get killer photos with them :) which everyone was happy about.
On making our way back to cairns we drove down the scenic majestic beachside of Port Douglas and stopped for a cup of coffee and to stretch are legs we also had the option to stop at Rex Lookout which is situated between cairns and Port Douglas to take photos.
Our trip came to an end after that when we were dropped back to the hostel in Cairns I would highly recommend this trip to any one of any age!!
