Honduras is the 2nd largest country in the Caribbean and it is home to colonial villages, ancient Mayan ruins, natural parks and the beautiful tropical Bay of Islands. One of the nicest and largest islands is Roatan with its great beaches and coral reefs. Honduras is neighbored by Guatemala to the northwest, El Salvador to the south and Nicaragua to the southeast.

From Roatan you can dive the seconds largest reef in the world, making it an excellent diving destination. It is known for its pristine aquamarine, hilly in land, white sandy beaches. Roatan lies about 45 km from the northern coast of the Honduran mainland.

Population
Roatan has a mixture of ethnic backgrounds and cultures. The largest ethnic population in Honduras descended from a mixture of Indians and Spanish. Their language is Spanish. This group is now the largest ethnic group on Roatan.
Temperature
Honduras is hot and humid almost year-round. Temperatures vary more by altitude then by season. At the coast it is during the day around 32 degrees Celsius. Temperatures are coolest in mountain areas. The Caribbean coast can experience a lot of rain, the heaviest being from September to February.
