I am a first time traveller, what type of support can I expect?
The meals are included, on week days you get 3 meals a day and in weekends 2 meals are included. We make sure we point you to the nice places for a snack or a drink out.
The accommodation is in our specially built ´hostels and ´centers´ (2-4 people max.) and on some programmes we have a home stay with a local family too, to experience the real China!
There is a 24/7 emergency number and support by English speaking staff on site. The guides are super friendly and there to help you out.
Can I book a private room?
For 60 euro´s a week extra you can have your own room, some weeks it might costs a little bit more because we stay in hotels.
What is the average age on the Gap Year programme in China?
The minimum is 18 years old. Most people on the programme are visiting the country for the first time and are between 18 and 25.
Do I need to book an Introduction week?
The introduction week is only compulsory if you only wish to do the Tai Chi weeks. We do highly recommend the introduction week in China as a way to bond with others in the group and a great way to be introduced to the country's customs, culture and language.
When does the programme start?
The Xtreme Gap Thailand Experience starts on the first Sunday morning of the month. The programme runs all year unless otherwise stated in programme information. Weekends in most programmes (during the Tai Chi week only on Sunday) are kept free for:
• Chilling
• Explorining by yourself and new made friends, local staff will be there to arrange trips
• Transporting you in-between different project locations in accordance with your programme choices.
Will I be picked up from the airport?
The airport pick up is included when you arrive at the respective airport any time on Sunday morning or early afternoon. You will be met at the airport by our representatives, but please note an extra night charge is due for those who arrive before Sunday (Sunday nights are always free of charge). And on Monday we will bring you to the programme of choice.
If you arrive after the weekend and wish to be met at the airport and transferred from there; there is a 50 euro extra charge.
How are the transfers arranged?
Public transport arrangements (coach, taxi) should be expected when transferring to, from and between project sites. Open air cars are used often during the projects and within some programme itineraries you may expect to use bicycles and boats sometimes! However there is always enough guidance!
I will arrive early, how do I book an extra night?
Sunday Night (night before the programme really starts) is free. If you arrive before Sunday the costs per person are 25 euro a night
Just let us know if you need an extra night and we will arrange this for you. Just know that there will be no taxi pick up, but we will provide you with detailed information on how to get to your accommodation.
What are the exact start dates?
The actual start date is every first Sunday of the month. Please make sure you arrive on Sunday morning. Late arrivals will be charged 50 euro extra.
What about the meals?
All meals are included during week days. It is all traditional food, so rice, veggies, chicken, fish. You eat together with the others at the accommodation and there will be cooked for you.
In weekends you can also eat in restaurants and eat whatever you want, there are many western restaurants too. In weekends not all meals are included.
Can I have a single room?
There are no options for a single room. But most are solo travellers and it is really not a big thing to share accommodation as everyone is there to have a good time.
