Gap Year Travel

Gap year travel is easy to do these days. Unlike many years ago, the concept of gap year travel is now really popular amongst people of all age groups. A gap year, is not just for teenagers  escaping their parents for the summer, it is all about getting out there and experiencing the world, and enjoying all the benefits of a gap year.

Our customers come from all walks of life and are all ages, from 18 to 60! Yes we set a 60 year old to do some extreme sports. How equal opportunities are we! (He went freediving in case you were wondering). That is the beauty of gap year travel. It is about getting out there and experiencing the would, the countries and cultures and having the time of your life whilst spending a year exploring the world and  finding out what you are capable of.

While we are on the subject I should mention that gap year travel is kind of a misnomer, a gap year rarely lasts a year, certainly the gap year activities that go to make up a gap year don't.  Often they can last as little as a week, to several months, they concept of a gap year takes into account it can often take a year to save up and set your self sorted before you go away.  For example, some people work for 6 months, back home, and then go and travel for 6 months, thereby constituting a gap year.

During their period of gap year travel, they might learn to scuba dive in Thailand or a padi open water course (lasting 4 days) or even push the boat out and do a 3 month divemaster course.  The point we are getting at here is the 4 day course is every much a part of the gap year travel experience as a longer gap year project, it all adds up to making a memorable and cool year out. Not everyone wants to work at home for half of their gap year, many choose to find paid work abroad on their gap year, or even take on gap year qualifications enabling them to work abroad and supplement their gap year travel budget.  This is not a bad option at all, especially when you consider the CV boosting effect a period of paid work aboard can have on your gap year. Some gap year programmes we feature can actually earn you a fair amount of money too, like the Australia beach life guard programme (you can earn up to 500 a week once qualified in Australia!)

Not everyone wants to work during on their gap year. Some would rather just spend their gap year travelling, or spend some time in one place and do a gap year project. Then the more adventurous might like to try their hand at mountain climbing or whitewater rafting. There are plenty of gap year activities to try during your gap year travels.
