Marine or land based  Wildlife Conservation

Wildlife conservation projects tend to come in 2 broad categories. On land and also marine wildlife conservation projects, like the whalesshark project or the great white shark conservation project, and the Marine conservation project in Fiji. Typically these tend to involve some diving or snorkeling - The dive training is usually included.

If you are big into the underwater world, you can look at doing a divemaster course, and combine that with some conservation too, like in the Gili´s with a big Bio Rock project, and once again in Fiji, or even in Koh Tao in Thailand.

Not everyone wants to get wet though, so there are plenty of land based projects for you to choose from.

These are all really worthwhile programmes, with one of the more popular ones being the Namibia wildlife conservation experience, where you do some wildlife conservation volunteering at an animal sanctuary.

It is not unusual to play with Cheetahs, leopards, Lions and baby baboons, all set in the most amazing surroundings.

Wildlife conservation gap year programmes can lead to some of the most unforgettable moments in your life.
